Warm welcome in the car park, then through to reception. Great view of the bay from the room. Well-equipped bathroom and good facilities in the room. Comy beds, and a good-sized sofa in the room. Restaurant excellent - at dinner, there was a good selection of meals and some outstanding Izu wines; breakfast buffet was great, wide selection of dishes and drinks. Location close to Perry Road museum, and Ryosenji Temple, and some small kissaten. Ideal location to explore Minami and Nishi Izu, hiking, watersports, and even as far as the famous waterfealls at Kawazu Nana Daru, Cape Irozaki, and the beaches on the suth coast. Bonus was visiting the museum home of Yasunori Kawabata, the author of Izu Dancing Girl - the famous Odoriko.

The location is lovely and excellent for exploring Shimoda with a lovely walk down the cliff road and back up again. The room was spacious for two, but lacked air conditioning and a fan in the bathroom. The beds were good and the staff were very welcoming and delightful. The Japanese breakfast buffet was plenty, the “western” breakfast a little short on fresh croissants and fruit, with hot foods being lukewarm. However, the service is impeccable and gracious. The shuttle bus is very regular and efficient to bring travellers to and from the train station. We loved our time in Shimoda and the graciousness of all the many people we met.

The views from the room across the bay were fabulous. The room was spacious, beds comfy. Plenty of choice at breakfast. We loved the gardens and walk down to the beach. The onsen was good and the outside onsen had views of the sea. Staff excellent and very attentive. Location good easy to get into town. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which tasted delicious looked like a beautiful piece of art but each dish was small.

Breakfast was amazing, you could literally have anything and everything - sushi, curry, egg bacon and sausages, pastries, traditional Japanese, difference fruit juices, teas and coffee, fruit, countless and impressive. View was amazing. Room was clean. Nice onsen. Excellent staff. Curteous, friendly but not intrusive. I don’t know their language skills as I am Japanese so did not have speak English.

The room was comfortable and clean, the location was stunning and the amenities were great. The dinner and breakfast buffet were not huge in terms of choices but the food was all delicious and the view from the restaurant was beautiful. There were activities for children every evening and the onsen was a lovely way to unwind in the evening after a day in the pool, on the beach or exploring the town.
